CARTRIDGES |
FIRST IDENTIFY CARTRIDGE TYPE
- The Old Type Cartridge has a plug at the corner of the
cartridge. If you have this kind of cartridge, follow the refilling instructions for
"Old Type Cartridge."
- The New Type Cartridge does not have the plug. If you
have this kind of cartridge, follow the refilling instructions for "New Type Cartridge."
REFILLING INSTRUCTIONS FOR "OLD TYPE CARTRIDGE"
Note: Do not refill cartridge until it is completely empty!
- Protect your work surface with newspaper or paper towels.
- Remove the empty cartridge from printer according to manufacturer instructions.
- Cover the maze on the bottom of the cartridge with scotch tape.

- For Older Style Cartridge locate plug in corner of cartridge top. Use ball point pen to
push plug into chamber. After filling, re-seal with tape.

- Fill with 20 or 40 ml. of ink. (check label for amount; must fill completely) Wipe away
any excess ink from drill hole and seal completely. (Black vinyl tape recommended) To
prime cartridge, remove needle. In place of needle attach pink plastic tip to syringe.
Align tip and syringe to check valve (vent hole) at top of cartridge within molded arrow.
Carefully and slowly push air into cartridge until four of five drops of ink come out of
print head. Stop pushing air and hold in place for five seconds. Then remove tip. You
should hear air being expelled from vent hole.
- Place printer head on folded paper for 2 minutes, no longer.
- Hold over sink then remove tape at bottom. Ink will drip for about 15-30 seconds, then
will stop. Wipe clean with tissue. Replace in printer and run several test pages.
- If this is not the first time to refill the cartridge, peel off the round adhesive seal
covering the refill hole.
- Replace pink plastic tip with needle and place into the refill hole and slowly fill the
cartridge with ink.
- Wipe up any spilled ink and place the round adhesive seal over the refill hole and press
firmly in place.
- Hold print head downward and observe for 10 seconds. If cartridge is dripping, repeat
steps 8 through 11. If print head is dry, remove the adhesive seal from the bottom maze
and reinstall cartridge into printer according to manufacturer instructions.

- Protect your work surface with newspaper or paper towels.
- Remove the empty cartridge from printer according to manufacturer instructions.
- Cover the maze on the bottom of the cartridge with scotch tape.

- If this is the first time to refill the cartridge, locate the small recess (dimple) in
front of the center vent hole at the top of the cartridge. Using drill tool provided,
drill into the dimple piercing the colored cap and continue drilling to pierce an
obstruction about 1/4"below the cap. Remove the drill from the hole.

- Fill with 20 or 40 ml. of ink. (check label for amount; must fill completely) Wipe away
any excess ink from drill hole and seal completely. (Black vinyl tape recommended) To

Cartridges |
- Protect your work surface with newspaper or paper towels.
- Remove ink cartridge from printer according to manufacturer instructions.
- The cover must be removed before refilling. Remove plastic cover by carefully prying it
off (use short-bladed knife, box knife, Exacto-knife or small screwdriver).
- Determine which chamber (cyan, magenta, or yellow) requires refilling. Fill the syringe
with the appropriate color of ink. Insert the syringe tip at a "downward" angle
into the fill hole as far as it will go. (Apply enough force to penetrate sponge inside.)
Then draw it back about 1/4"(6 mm) to leave a well for the ink as it is dispensed.
The chamber should hold approximately 5 mls. of ink.
- IMPORTANT! Slowly eject the ink into the cartridge, filling the chamber by pushing the
plunger gently but firmly. Allow the ink to absorb into the foam sponge. DO NOT OVER FILL!
- Replace cap and secure with tape.
- Replace cartridge into printer. Run self-test or print head cleaning program. If
printing is too light, remove cartridge and stand it upright on a dry paper towel. Let
cartridge rest on wet towel for 3 to 5 minutes. Three spots of ink (magenta, cyan and
yellow) should appear. Wipe cartridge and repeat self-test or print head cleaning program.
Clean any ink on hands or surface with water.
Note: It is highly recommended that you refill the color chamber
before it runs completely out of ink. As soon as a color of ink starts to skip, refill
that color. Do not "top off" the other two colors, but refill each one as soon
as it shows signs of skipping.

- Protect work surface with a few layers of newspaper or paper towels.
- Using the point of a sharp knife, carefully remove round black patch to expose ball plug
which seals fill hole. Push ball plug into cartridge with ball point pen.

- Fill cartridge with 40 ml (15ml for model 6615) of black ink. DO
NOT INSERT NEEDLE MORE THAN 1/2 INTO CARTIRDGE. (Cartridge has liner that may be
damaged if needle is inserted more than 1/2. Once syringe is inserted, tilt back to
vertical position and gently push in plunger to fill cartridge.
- Place new sealing ball over fill hole and press into place.
- Wipe any ink drips from around fill hole and apply a new round plastic seal over fill
hole. Turn it over so printhead faces down and squeeze sides of cartridge firmly until
several drops of ink are expelled from the printhead.
- Gently wipe excess ink from printhead.
- Let cartridge stand, print head down, for 30 minutes or more to allow any air to rise to
the top of the bladder.
Note: Green-Black ink level indicator may not completely reset but
will turn completely black when cartridge is empty. If ink continues to seep from print
head when inverted press printhead against absorbent pad until seeping stops.

Cartridge |
- Protect your work surface with newspaper.
- Remove ink cartridge from printer according to manufacturer instructions.
- Holding the cartridge upright, use the tip of a ballpoint pen, or similar object, to
push the three plugs that seal the ink fill holes into the cartridge.

- Determine which of the 3 ink chambers is empty. (Only fill empty chamber) Fill the
injecting syringe proper ink color (cyan, magenta or yellow).

- Tilt the cartridge forward so that you can insert the syringe into the correct fill hole
without dripping. Insert the syringe plunger into the cartridge as far as it will go.
- Bring the cartridge and syringe back to the vertical position. Carefully inject the ink
into the hole moving the tip so that the ink saturates all areas of the sponge inside the
ink chamber.
- Stop immediately if ink starts to overflow from the fill hole. Draw back the syringe
plunger a little so that the excess ink is drawn back into the syringe chamber.
- Remove the syringe from the cartridge.
- Dry any overflow from around the fill hole.
- Repeat steps, as other chambers need refilling. The ink will not leak from the fill
holes so there is no need to reseal them.
