Congratulations on your purchase of the SharpJet Inkjet Refill Kit. Before you refill your cartridge please read through these general tips carefully. After you have finished reading this section, select your printer name from the left hand column to see detailed instructions.

  • Always remove the cartridge from the printer when refilling.
  • Cover the area where you are refilling the cartridge to protect against any spills that may occur.
  • When filling the syringe insert directly through the seal on the bottle and do not remove the seal from the bottle of ink. This helps to eliminate the chances of accidental spills when filling the injector tool.
  • Refill the cartridge only after it is completely empty.
  • If the cartridge has been empty for longer than 2 weeks do not try to refill it. Chances are the sponge inside the cartridge has dried out which will cause it to leak.
  • When filling the cartridge with ink insert the injection syringe all the way to the bottom of the sponge and slowly fill the cartridge. This will allow the ink to fully saturate the sponge.
  • Make sure that you are putting the correct color of ink into the cartridge. Most color cartridges have chambers for magenta, cyan, and yellow inks. You can usually tell which chamber is for what ink by looking at the ports at the bottom of the cartridge. If you are still not clear withdraw a small amount of ink from each chamber to see the proper color.
  • Do not over fill the sponges in the cartridge! Doing so may cause the ink in some cartridges to overflow.
  • When handling the cartridge make certain that you avoid touching any metal parts. If you store the cartridge rather than placing it back in the printer store it at room temperature in a sealed plastic bag or air tight container. Never store an empty cartridge for an extended period of time.
  • If you are storing a cartridge that has a print head wipe the head with a paper towel that has been soaked in the cartridge head cleaner. Store according to the instructions above. Before using the cartridge wipe the print head clean with the cartridge head cleaner to clean any area that may have dried ink on it.
  • Do not leave a cartridge that you have refilled to remain sitting on a paper towel. This may cause the ink to drain from the cartridge.

Note: While piercing the cartridge, be careful not to touch any metal parts on the cartridge or damage the printhead of the cartridge by scraping it on any hard surfaces (ie: table top, counter, vice grip, walls)
